Thirty-five new elements were inscribed on the UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity during the last session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage meeting, held on 9-14 December 2019 in the Colombian capital – Bogota.
Since then, Bulgaria has inscribed 5 ICH elements on the Representative List and 2 Good Safeguarding Practices. The process of preparing nominations and safeguarding living heritage requires the active involvement of all stakeholders. Thus, the Regional Centre Sofia – UNESCO organizes series of round tables on 10, 13 and 15 January 2020 in Sofia where the achieved results under the project “Safeguarding of the intangible cultural heritage through enhancing civil society’s participation on the process of formulating, implementing and monitoring of policies and legislation” will be presented. Representatives of local authorities, NGOs directly or indirectly related to cultural heritage, cultural institutions – museums, community centers and interested citizens are invited to participate in the discussions.
