Exposition “Traditional knowledge and practices: Istria’s intangible cultural heritage on National and UNESCO lists”

The Ethnographic Museum in Sofia and the Ethnographic Museum of Istria – Croatia are pleased to present the exhibition “Traditional knowledge and practices: Istria’s intangible cultural heritage on National and UNESCO lists”. The official opening is on September 29, 2021 at 5 pm in the halls of the National Ethnographic Museum in Sofia. The exhibition is realized with the support of the Regional Centre for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in South-Eastern Europe under the auspices of UNESCO and the Ministry of Culture of Croatia.

The exposition will present elements of the Intangible Cultural Heritage from the region of Istria in Croatia, that are part of the country’s National Register or the UNESCO representative lists of Humanity and the register of good practices. The visitors will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the Living Cultural Heritage of Istria, comprehensively presented through photographs, texts and sound. The elements of this heritage include numerous traditional practices, the secrets of the traditional fishing and some of the specific customs and beliefs typical for the Adriatic coast.

The exposition dedicated to the Cultural Heritage of Istria will be open to public until the October 29, 2021.

The visits will be carried out in compliance with all the recommended anti-epidemic measures.
