Living heritage elements newly inscribed on the 2003 Convention Lists and Register from the Member States of the Regional Centre Sofia (18.COM)
During this year’s session in Kasane, Republic of Botswana, the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (18 COM) inscribed 6 elements on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding, and 45 elements on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.The committee also selected 4 programmes for the Register of Good Safeguarding Practices
UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists now feature 693 elements corresponding to 140 countries, and the Register now features 37 practises corresponding to 31 countries.
The ICH elements inscribed from the Member States of the Regional Centre Sofia in the UNESCOs Lists and Register are the following:
- Türkiye: Traditional knowledge, methods and practices concerning olive cultivation / Inscribed in 2023 (18.COM) on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding
- Azerbaijan, Iran (Islamic Republic of), Tajikistan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan: Art of illumination: Təzhib/Tazhib/Zarhalkori/Tezhip/Naqqoshlik / Inscribed in 2023 (18.COM) on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity
- Azerbaijan, Türkiye: Craftsmanship and performing art of balaban/mey / Inscribed in 2023 (18.COM) on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity
- Azerbaijan, Türkiye: Craftsmanship of mother of pearl inlay / Inscribed in 2023 (18.COM) on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity
- Azerbaijan, Iran (Islamic Republic of), Turkiye and Uzbekistan: Iftar/Eftari/Iftar/Iftor and its socio-cultural traditions / Inscribed in 2023 (18.COM) on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity
- Columbia, Cyprus, Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Luxembourg, Nigeria, Slovenia, and Togo: Midwifery: knowledge, skills and practices / Inscribed in 2023 (18.COM) on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity
- Armenia: Tradition of blacksmithing in Gyumri / Inscribed in 2023 (18.COM) on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity
- Albania, Andorra, Austria, Croatia, France, Greece, Italy, Luxemburg, Romania, Spain: Transhumance, the seasonal droving of livestock / Inscribed in 2023 (18.COM) on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity
